HSV

Description HSV is an acronym for Hue, Saturation, and Value. Other similar systems include HSI (Hue, Saturation, and Intensity) or HSB (Hue, Saturation, and Brightness). These three charactersitics define a colorspace which has values ranging from 0-1 in davinci. The Hue is the actual color that is defined, which is actually circular and usually defined in either radians or degrees. The saturation is the dominance of hue in the color. The value is the lightness or darkness of the color, or in other words the over all intensity of the image. For example, if the image had a zero saturation value there would be no color present and thus the image would only depend on the Value. This is one of the main ways that colorpickers work in popular software such as Photoshop as seen below. So you have already been exposed to it without even knowing. One of the best ways to think of this color space is as a cone, which can be seen below, from WikiPedia.
